fnatic have won WESG 2017 World Finals after beating Space Soldiers 2-1 in the grand final (16-12 on Cobblestone, 16-19 on Inferno, and 16-14 on Mirage).

The best-of-three grand final kicked off on Cobblestone where the T-sided Space Soldiers won the pistol round following entry kills by Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş and Engin "⁠ngiN⁠" Kor on the B-site. After winning two anti-eco rounds, the Turkish side planted the bomb on the B-site in the first weapon round but they lost it despite having a 3vs2 advantage (3-1).

fnatic went on to take lead with a 5-1 run (5-4). Jonas "⁠Lekr0⁠" Olofsson got a swift quad kill in the next weapon round to make it 7-4. Lekr0 clutched a 1vs3in the thirteenth round and fnatic extended their lead to 9-4. The Swedish squad finished the half 10-5 ahead.

fnatic win their second title this month

Ahmet "⁠paz⁠" Karahoca clutched a 1vs2 post-plant in the second half pistol round to give Space Soldiers their sixth round. With the help of the pistol round bomb-plant, fnatic bought guns in the third round of the second half and won it (11-7). Space Soldiers got a few rounds on the defensive side but fnatic never lost control, winning the map 16-12.

The series continued on Inferno where fnatic started on the T-side. Robin "⁠flusha⁠" Rönnquist and Jesper "⁠JW⁠" Wecksell got opening kills on the B-site in the pistol round but they rotated to A to win the round. The Swedes followed up two anti-eco wins with the first weapon round victory as they won a 3vs3 post-plant on the B-site (4-0).

SS go home with $300k

fnatic's streak ended at seven rounds as the Turks responded with four rounds in a row. flusha clutched a 1vs1 in the twelfth round to make it 8-4. Space Soldiers didn't let fnatic go on another streak and picked up the following round without losing a single player, trailing 8-5. Buğra "⁠Calyx⁠" Arkın won a 1vs2 in the last round of the half to give Space Soldiers their seventh round (8-7).

XANTARES secured the second half pistol round with a quad kill, tying up the game at 8-8. Space Soldiers won two anti-ecos to get to ten rounds but fnatic hit back in the first weapon round (10-9). Calyx & ngiN clutched a 2vs5 to extend the Turkish team's lead to 14-11.

The trophy has gone to Sweden

Despite having three match points, Space Soldiers couldn't close out the map and the game went to overtime. Calyx & company got all three rounds on the T-side of overtime and went on to win the map 19-16.

The final map was Mirage and the CT-sided Turkish squad kicked it off with the pistol round win. Space Soldiers also secured the first weapon round, leading 4-0. After the Turks dominated the early parts of the first half, which gave them a 7-1 lead, fnatic picked up five of the last seven rounds to trail 9-6 at halftime.

XANTARES' team got the first three rounds in the second half but fnatic were superior in the first weapon round thanks to JW's lurk play (12-7). paz got two crucial entry kills in the following round which made it 13-7.

The Turkish side made it 14-7 but couldn't get to fifteen rounds as fnatic strung together a nine round streak to win the map 16-14 and the series 2-1. With this victory, fnatic have become the champions at WESG 2017 World Finals.
